Hi! Ni hao! I'm Lawrence, a professional poet living in Malaysia's Klang Valley, where I teach people to write poetry. I like cycling every day, and I am a full-time parent and home-maker (like a 'housewife' in the old thinking!). I used to teach English and am also working as a proofreader and copy-editor; my English level is almost as high as it is possible to be! The opposite is true for my Mandarin level. I began to use Duolingo to learn Mandarin in November 2022. I can read some printed characters, but I don't have anyone to practice speaking and listening with. I would like to practise Mandarin/English for one hour per week: 30 minutes English, 30 minutes Mandarin. I am a beginner in speaking, so I need a partner who is very patient with me!
