I am almost 73 years old, but I was a Japanese teacher until a few years ago. Currently, I am a volunteer in Cebu, Philippines, teaching Japanese and math to children in the slums. There are self-written Japanese textbooks from lessons 1~51, with basic sentence patterns, dialogues, grammar explanations, and simple exercises. All texts are readable in hiragana, katakana, and Hepburn Roman characters, and there is also an English translation, so I think it is easy for beginners to understand.
