Hi my name is Anita. I am a retired nurse since 2020. I have been studying Spanish at community college for 5 semesters now. I love to travel and have traveled to Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Spain, and Uruguay as well as many non Spanish speaking countries. Besides studying Spanish I like to hike, garden, and exercise. I am a retired professional translator for German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese and Russian into English. All my languages, except English, are self-taught. I lived 8 years in Latin America and 13 years in Japan. I practice all my languages except Italian via the Internet every week. My wife is Japanese. My Mandarin Chinese level is intermediate. I can read Chinese, and speak it conversationally, but I need considerable improvement with the Chinese tones. I use dialogs and short essays created by me and my language partners for practice. It is a very effective method. Together we can arrange a mutually convenient time, preferaby twice a week for 1 1/2 hours for each session. I am a serious and experienced language learner, but I also like to have fun doing it. I'm looking for a long-term language exchange with the same person. I want to learn more about Japan, and I want to travel and visit it one day. I would like to talk about a wide range of subjects that may interests you. - Culture, Places, Movies, Food, TV Shows, Technology - Just about anything else you can think of! I can comfortably read hiragana and katakana. I am still in the process of learning kanji and vocabulary. I'm starting to learn grammar to form basic sentences. I would eventually like to speak Japanese but I am in the very early stages of my journey!
