Hello, my name is Sarah. I am 25 and currently studying for a degree in physics. I also enjoy running, reading (fantasy and mystery are my favorites), and baking. I have been trying to learn Turkish for the past year or so, just using online resources, but I find them to be too structured so I was hoping some practice actually conversing would be a nice addition! Iโm a retired professional that is enjoying cooking, gardening, working out, and spending time with the ones I love. Iโm a US native that grew up with Spanish speaking parents that wanted to integrate into the US, and made us answer in English as opposed to Spanish. So, while I understand Spanish, Iโm now studying to speak it. Iโm at a beginner level of speaking and would like to help a Spanish speaker with English while they help me with practicing my Spanish.

JapaneseI am a native Chinese speaker fluent in both Mandarin and Taiwanese. Other than my mother tongues, I am also fluent in English thanks to having lived in the US for more than 40 years. I'd like to keep my brain busy with language learning. I have reading proficiency in Japanese but mediocre level of listening and speaking. The same can be said about my Spanish, although it is at a lower level than my Japanese. I took on learning French during the Pandemia and know the 95% of the basics in the French language. That may help me rip off the tag of beginner. But my French is at the bottom of the intermediate level. It definitely needs a lot of work.

My hobbies include volunteering, (currently for a Ukrainian organization called ENGin, helping Ukrainians perfect their English), gardening, getting out in nature, reading, writing, live music, and studying Ukrainian:)
As far as reading goes, I love great literature, but I also love non-fiction - memoirs are a favorite, as well as books on psychology, philosophy, neuroscience, sociology, and health. My taste in music is quite eclectic, and I have many Ukrainian favorites! I love yoga and long 'urban hikes', as well as hikes in pretty nature spots, and walks and dips in the beautiful American River.

I am a high school French and Spanish teacher in California that has a hard time keeping up with my language skills because I teach novice and intermediate learners. My French is advanced and my Spanish is intermediate-high and I strive to improve both. I live in Sacramento, CA and love traveling both within my state to the mountains and the coast, and internationally to Europe and Central/South America. I have not had the opportunity to travel enough to adequately achieve higher levels of language practice.
